Yes, this is the first time I've installed a mod file. Initially, I was
looking for a setup file or some application file. I read the documentation
that came with the zip file, but I wasn't able to find anything about
installation so I did a Google search and found directions saying to click
on the .qmod file. I only found one file that says qmod and when I click on
it, it opens in notepad. The following is what appears in notepad:

shortdesc=Episode 4 - A New Mod...

gamedir=jediquake4
watch_config=yes
watch_autoexec=yes
[longdesc]
00=The Definitive Edition of Jedi Quake,

I can see it's just a run of the mill configuration file. I have to admit,
I couldn't understand how running this particular file would install all the
appropriate files. The zip file I downloaded was JediQuake4. Is there
perhaps a different file I was supposed to download? Thanks for the help!
