Hi there, I have some things to tell you. Firstly, my server runes now for about a week, and thouggh everything is correctly setted up! I mean, the configs are well installed, there is a script that restarts the server in case of crash, I have for the moment, 3 good admins that help me, in addition to my server master... So, that was for the server! Of course, there are some things I still have to order, for example the map list... some people really dislike darkness for example, but other find it really nice, like me... I think the bigest problem in this is that in Andre's pack, that lots of people use, hall the nav systems are dictivated. People don't know how to use it, and in a map that is bit more complicated, there are fastly lost... Dunno, but I think it would be a good idea to redistribute the default pack with enabled navs, but I am working on this! smiles
The second thing is that I rebuilded the map HOSE. I made it with LDL, and encountred lots of problems, the main is that I saw that when I run the map in JQ mod, everything got turned from 90 degres. For example, if I want to locate a health box to the North, I had to write East in my xml file... But it is not important, at least for such a simple map structure... But it shows there is a problem with big sizes in LDL. I rebuilded the map because both on Andre and mine server, it makes it crash after a piece of time. I saw the error in my log, but don't understand it very well... suppose it will be easier when I'll have finished with reading the source code, which is bit longg :p . The strange thing I don't understand, in addition to the 90 degres turning, it is the 270 degrees turning on non jediquake mode! lol you'll say... yes, it is so! If I run the map on JQ, as I've actually builded it it works properly, and in normal AQ game, it got turned from 180 degrees more... But it is a JQ map, and dunno for you, but for me JQ is a very big and important part of AQ itself, so it is not so important... The thirth thing I think to, that's about JQ devlopment. I contacted Cara Quinn, which I think, does not read and write here anymore... She answered me, and we'll probably work together to make a new version of JQ, which I hope, will contain at least bugs corrections, and why not, new stuffs! Now, a question for the experimented programmers or server masters... My server works. Yes, but I read my log file each morning... It runes, but there always appear quentities of errors in it! I don't understand how they come... I have lots of warnings, the most are for xxx overflow. I also have such an error: SZ_GetSpace: overfloaded for PlayerName My question is simply, is that dangerous? And at hall, what is that? lol Oh and another thing of the same style... If players connect to my server, they can play properly, but there is a strange message on each connexion, which says: PlayerName WARNING: no player/eyes module detected. The players got not disconnected, but it appears each time somebody connects, me included. Well, sorry for the long message, but I have one more little question... Simply, I see that planetquake.com has been removed from the Internet. Does somebody have a backup of the server and client commands lists? Because I'll really enjoy of reading such a list... Of course it is possible to understand each function in the sources, but it is bit easier to read a normal documentation! lol So, bye hall, have a nice day!
