Dear Colleagues
Another issue regarding detrending concerns with variogram modeling when trend coefficients are not given (i.e., unknown). I found literature on this issue very disparate. Any comments regarding unified approach on variogram modeling will be greatly appreciated.
Needless to say, when one has trend in observed data, then the parent random function won't be stationary and as such:
1. Variogram of original data won't be the same as variogram of residual according to one school of thought.
2. Since drift coefficients are not given, original data cannot be transformed to residual for variogram identification.
