I agree with Jon Ceanfaglione,
you could also define the element to var as well
var tElem =
document.getElementByID("Purchased_assets1__0_Asset_description1_strFeature­s");
tElem.value = s;

Only other think I can think of is try
s.toString()

you might be returning something your element doesnt support.

Can you post the HTML for
"Purchased_assets1__0_Asset_description1_strFeature­s"
Is it a input? Div?
