Andreas -- Dinning Hakkers and the related code in Akka was the main result of the effort you referenced in your first post.
I don't believe there is much ongoing effort for Akka and OSGi right now. However, I would suggest posting on akka-dev if you'd like to propose enhancements like the Akka API to OSGi that you mentioned, along with a summary of the benefits that you see from that approach. I, for one, would be interested in learning more.
