Ralph -
Any kind of bizarre behavior such as this on the part of a Milano is
almost certainly the fault of the ignition switch. Dreadful design,
doomed to fail at some point - I'm on my fourth one since 1997, or
possibly fifth, hard to keep count. The commonest symptom (in my
experience) is when the engine quits and all the dashboard indicators go
dead, then they come back on when the key is turned to the OFF position,
but your symptoms could easily be just a version of that.
