Weren't the later GTV6 vintages (1985 +) shipped with hard-to-fit metric
wheels and tires?

Never had a problem with my '84, especially once I ditched the gaudy
aftermarket wheels that came on it and fitted a set of original-type (actually
from an '83 with contrast paint job) wheels.

FWIT, did a speedo check on my '91 Spider w/14" notaveloce wheels last time
I ran in a TSD rally: there is a variable error that is as much as 10% on
the speedo; it is sorta kinda accurate above 80 mph but increasingly
further off as it approaches parked. Go figure. (PS, the navigator worked it
out
well and we won the rally.)

Your stock tire size should have been a 195/60, on a 15x6" wheel. If
you've got a wider wheel, I find that a 205/55 is pretty close in size, and
works well on a 7" wheel.
