I have not owned an Alfetta in years. But I have had problems with
spider seat pans. They tend to rust badly and even if not rusted, can stress
crack such that the bolts between the seat pan and the sliding rail no longer
hold anything. The solution is to remove the seat bottom. Then weld and
reinforce the sheet metal.
The early spider seat bottoms were held in with four tabs and could be
easily removed. Straighten tab A and remove from Slot B.
The Motronic spiders have the exact same tabs, but Alfa saw fit to pop
rivet them shut. The requires removing the seat to drill out the pop rivets.
And, of course, do not replace the pop rivets.

Subject: [alfa] Common seat rail failure?

Cats,

The seat in my Alfetta has begun to rock back and forth when
entering the car and sitting down. I have not done a thorough
inspection - removing the seat and tuning it upside down and
looking. I just wanted to ask if there is a common failure of some
piece of the seat rail and if a reweld works.

I originally though the rail-to-floor bolts were loose or something
so I looked closely at them and they are on tight. Something
midway from the front bolt to the rear bolt on the door side
rail had given way. Anyone have this happen?

Thanks,
Stefano
