I've experienced and witnessed many seat failure modes on Alfetta seats,
though a rail break isn't one of them.
Check the fault isn't with the height adjustment mechanism. On the coupe
the small grub screw on the tilt bar can work loose making the seat very
sloppy.
There are support balls inside the rails that would probably allow the
symptoms described should they disappear. I guess if they both worked their
way toward the centre of the rail they may allow the base to rock. They
should be spaced well apart to support body weight.

Subject: [alfa] Common seat rail failure?
Cats,
The seat in my Alfetta has begun to rock back and forth when
entering the car and sitting down. I have not done a thorough
inspection - removing the seat and tuning it upside down and
looking. I just wanted to ask if there is a common failure of some
piece of the seat rail and if a reweld works.
I originally though the rail-to-floor bolts were loose or something
so I looked closely at them and they are on tight. Something
midway from the front bolt to the rear bolt on the door side
rail had given way. Anyone have this happen?
Thanks,
Stefano
