To add even more to the Berlinas' performance bonafides, they were actually more aerodynamically efficient than either the Spider or the GTV! Probably still are.

This is not to say a Berlina would be faster around a track, of course. "Friendly" handling can become ponderous if you're tickling the limit, and while they weren't really that much heavier than the sporty models it was weight carried higher. You pick the performance you want and the range in which you want it, and for me that was everyday over-the-road driving. Still is.
