The secret with the late Studes was an available factory Paxton Supercharger. 
There is one called "The Plain Brown Wrapper" that still participates on "Pure 
Stock" Drag Races and beats large V-8 Olds 442, Plymouth Roadrunners, etc. It's 
a rare option, but it was factory installed on some Larks, Avantis, and Hawks 
around 1962 and 1963
