Ben...
I had a 1750 track car......before trying to use it to move a tire
wall...at that time Jack Beck offered a "better" starter.....I believe a
Toyota unit with an adapter.....kept it as a spare as I have a 1750 Spider
with a stock starter.....it's now been 16 years and I've never had to use
it.....so ...stock is fine.....my new track car has a 2 liter with spin
on.....change oil in each as fast as the other and the cartridge is only $3
more.....so keep the stock filter......I prefer the red/amber....but beauty
is in the eye of the beholder so you're on your own here.....

Subject: [alfa] 1971 GTV advice sought

I may choose my own route, but thought I'd ask for input. I just took
delivery of a nearly rust free 1971 1750 GTV. I have always preferred the
grill and tail treatment of the 1750 to the 2 litre cars and finally
acquired another. The car is not running and needs lots of cosmetic help. My
questions are pretty basic.

. First, it has been awhile (try 1975) since I have dealt with a
1750, but I recall that the starter is not as strong as the later 2 litre
versions. Is there an upgrade used these days that is preferable to the
stock unit?

. Second, is a remote oil filter the best option, or should I think
about an adapter to replace the cartridge filter with a spin on? What
hardware in each case would you all recommend?

. Finally, a cosmetic question. I need to replace both tail light
lenses. I'm taking a poll as to the preference between the Euro amber/red
versions and the USA all red lenses.

Input appreciated!

Ciao,

Ben
