What method do you use to clean threaded fasteners? I am concerned with
removing dried loctite and other material that the parts washer
sometimes leaves behind. Or do you have a super duper parts washer
procedure to share?
I am currently using either cold Stoddard solvent or hot aqueous parts
washers (sometimes both) and a "wire wheel" on the bench grinder. Oh and
a pick too.
I am going to replace my worn wire wheel soon and am considering
something less aggressive. This partly to reduce flying bolts as well
as to preserve precious Alfa fasteners. I am considering a fine carbon
steel wire vs Tampico - McMaster Carr style.
I wont even ask about preventing flying bolts. It only happens when the
wife's car is garaged anyway.
