Scott I'm sure others will chime in a tell you that Biba's advice is beyond dangerous.
Nevertheless...simply get a (or two) lock nuts for the spindle/spindles, make sure there is no grease on the threads and if you want to really make sure it won't come off, add a small dollop of 'mild' LocTite. No more tightening the castellated nut to just where you want it only to find that none of the holes show up.
