This is the first time that I have run into a non-functioning V6 thermostat.
This one does not open properly and needs to be replaced. I need opinions on
using the three types available: 

.         Replacement insert (as sold by IAP and others)

.         Replacement t-stat with housing (as original)

.         American style t-stat (machine housing to eliminate tabs)

 

Number 3 is by far the cheapest. What have you all done? The original with
housing was not available for quite some time, so I know some of you have
experience with the other two options.

P.S. Far too many Alfas - anyone looking for a possible Lemons racer? I have
an 88 Milano Verde I might  be persuaded to let go cheap.
