Ben,
Go with option 3. It means you can get a thermostat anytime, anyplace if
you're out on the road. While you're at it, get the hottest one you can.
Alloy motors run better with a hotter thermostat. I got that from Dennis at
Norman Racing; I was present while he was talking to a guy who had a Pantera
with an alloy Corvette engine in it. I put a 190 or 195 in my Berlina
(whatever the hottest one was) and suddenly it not only ran better, but I had
heat and defrost that actually worked!

Subject: [alfa] V6 thermostat & possible Lemons car

This is the first time that I have run into a non-functioning V6
thermostat.
This one does not open properly and needs to be replaced. I need opinions
on
using the three types available:

. Replacement insert (as sold by IAP and others)

. Replacement t-stat with housing (as original)

. American style t-stat (machine housing to eliminate tabs)

Number 3 is by far the cheapest. What have you all done? The original with
housing was not available for quite some time, so I know some of you have
experience with the other two options.
