There really isn't much to be gained unless you re-tune the engine to take
advantage of the 'better' fuel.  It would also be more economical to use a
bottled octane booster at every fill.  Race fuels also don't store well so
use it as quickly as possible.

My Australian spec Nords (standard trim 'leaded' engines / Dell'Ortos/) all
ran a little better on leaded avgas, but idled woefully and in stop-start
traffic the fumes would give me a headache (and probably cancer.....).  I
also suspected they would close up the points quicker, but that's probably
more to do with how they were driven on avgas than the avgas itself.  I
would advance the ign timing a touch when running the 130.

Unless you are having pinging/pre-ignition issues, why bother? If you 
have pinging then you need to raise the octane rating ALL THE TIME. If 
not you will gain nothing by boosting the octane rating, "once in a while."
