Modelle,

I'm in Australia so the vehicle tag/registration/title requirements are
different to yours, but I'd certainly be attempting to change the
documentation so it reflects the factory numbers stamped onto sheetmetal on
the body, and the engine numbers stamped onto the block (if applicable in
your jurisdiction). The factory ID numbers (technically not a VIN in 1966)
are the only thing traceable back to the OEM and a windshield sticker has a
limited life.

Subject: [alfa] Imported GT..advice needed

Gentle Alfisti,
I have acquired a 1966 Giulia GT that was imported two owners ago from
Malaysia. When it was brought in, a multi-digit number beginning with AR was
printed on a sticker that was (and is) stuck to the inside of the
windshield. This number matches the number appearing on the Virginia title,
but does not match the VIN on the cars firewall. I am having second
thoughts about applying for a new title using the sticker number and would
rather have a valid title with the actual VIN. Any thoughts, Digest?
