Modelle, let JB-Weld - not the quick dry version - be your friend. Clean out the P-opening, mix up enough to fill, then sand down very smooth so that it is 100% flush. If in doubt, drop a liner in and see if it slides in easily. No doubt you also do this, but I use a light smear of blue silicone 'gasket cement' on the thin liner seals/O-rings. The quotes are for the name, not that I ever use it for that purpose.
