Huw,

As others have said check for vacuum leaks, this can also happen if the throttle position sensor (TPS) is not adjusted correctly, you want to have it set so it clicks *just* as the throttle starts turning the flap in the throttle body.

Good luck,
Kevin

All,

Ive finally found the time (and money!) to get my 1985 GTV-6 fully back on
the road. Ive been very lucky to find a local mechanic (about 2Km away!) who
originally trained on Alfas and GTV-6s in particular and he has done a
fantastic job getting the car ready to drive but, as always, theres one
little problem and Im hoping someone has a suggestion for a solution.

The issue is that the car hunts at idle, going from around 900rpm to 1500rpm
and then back again every 5 seconds or so. Weve looked at almost everything
and apart from the traditional goat sacrifice weve tried almost everything
too. Any suggestions appreciated, especially if youve had a similar problem
and then got it fixed!
