First I try switching the lights on the dash around since it is easier on
my back. I swapped out 3 light bulbs and each has the same result: it
blinked 3 times before quitting just like the original.

So I wiggle my way down to the Bosch Black Box that houses the flasher
innards and spend way too much time just getting the bloody screw out.
With the box on my desk, I pop off the covers and have a look inside. Not
much in the way corrosion: a little bit on the PCB with the copper strips
and on one of the resistors where the legs go thru the board. Otherwise,
looks pretty good.

My next idea is to get my electronic parts cooling spray out to see if I
can pinpoint the failing component(s) when operating. Reattached the
wires, put #3 fuse back in (I'm very aware of keeping the MagickSmoke in
the wires), and operated the turn signal stalk. The light on the dash was
now working all the time and even brighter than before!

Must have been a next-to-failing wire connector since I didn't do much to
the innards. The connectors don't look all that bad but what ever it was,
it was minute.

I was ready to go buy a 3-pronged electronic flasher as a replacement but
no need now!
