Well thanks anybody, for the suggestions for my ailing winamp; starting
with everything panned to the right. Tried everything; and finally a
reinstall. Got the new install working and stereo was well balanced,
after I got it asociated with mp3 files. Then, all of a sudden, it was
still working but did not have a window. It was not in the alt-tab
windows rotation. Shut it down and started it from the desktop and it
did not create a window. So I removed it and did another reinstall.
Then when it tried to come up, it stopped and said it had been run in a
nonrecommended compatibility mode and that I should go to its properties
and make sure the compatibility mode was unchecked. Still, after that,
it would not get past the warning about compatibility mode. I removed
it and will now try another reinstall.
This winamp is a real pain--at least, on this machine. I have three
other machines that run it just fine.
