Hi,
I have to confirm this for Win98SE on two different computers (Laptop 320MB,
Celeron 500 and PC 320MB, Pentium III) with m139 from StarDiv-server, MD5sum ok.
On both machines OOo2.0.0 was installed before (without any problems), on the
laptop I removed it and repaired m139 afterwards without any success.
General installation worked fine.
User installation freezes screen always at the same point of installation
(under the "i" from OpenOffice - see screenshot) and continues after about 5
minutes - total user installation time about 10 minutes.
Opening existing file (once written using a personal template containing about
5 lines of text and a date field) takes about 3 minutes (after 2 minutes a
message box pops up, telling something like "installing templates for the first
time").
Opening a new Writer document takes 20 sec., reaction time for menues etc. is
the same.
After inserting a picture (/share/gallery/sky.gif) in a new doc, I tried to
save it:
- "File" - "Save as" is quite fast, but after typing the doc name ("test" with
automatic file extension) and mouse action on "Save" button it takes 60 seconds
until the progress bar started very slowly, stopped after about 25% and resumed
at 90% till the end. All the action took about 3 minutes.
During the programs work, processor usage is 100%, mouse is frozen inside OOo
until the end of the action, rebuilding window content after change takes up to
several minutes.
Even more important: You nearly can't do anything else during OOo's action!
Every mouse action takes 20 sec. until it takes place, screen is frozen for the
same time and even the task manager can't be used properly - it takes more than
5 minutes to close OOo!
This problem must be solved - I can't use m139 at all!
(I tried to export my 100 pages dissertation with 40 linked pictures to PDF and
cancelled the export after 4 hours...)
