This is a conceptional problem.
Writer OLE objects use Web Layout so changing the page width won't work.
Furthermore, the OLE object always is supposed to be as big as the text and not
show any background.
The "insert from file" function seems to be somewhat broken; it doesn't handle
the size correctly.
Your suggestion to get background into the OLE object is a request to change the
way how OLE objects are treated in OOo. I don't think that this will happen.
Page height is completely irrelevant, OLE objects don't have pages.
What we should do is resizing the OLE object in case the page width is changed,
giving the same result as if the object had been resized with the mouse when
active.
