"Also, please note that OOo embeds the used fonts inside the generated PDF file,
while PDFCreator AFAIK doesn't do this with the default settings.
This can make a big difference in the size of small files."
===================================================================
I use PDFCreator 0.9.5 from <http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/> .
I opened a Chineses webpage, and printed to .pdf on Windows XP.
Then I transferred this.pdf file to Ubuntu. There on Ubuntu I can view the pdf
well.
Two possibilities:
   (1) PDFCreator also embeds fonts
   (2) PDFCreator can use the fonts from Ubuntu System.
If it is case(2), then why we have to embed fonts in pdf? Especially, when these
fonts are very "standard" or "common" like "Times New Roman"? Most systems have
them by default.
  Anyway, I agree to embed fonts to make pdf completely "portable".
