Christian, did you do a competitive analysis? 

It sounds strange to me to have a function enabled that actually doesn't do
anything. In my small developer's world I always considered it to be good style
to disable stuff that can't (or shouldn't) be executed.

If you maintain your point that the "Save" button should be enabled though
saving isn't necessary my question would be: why stop at "Save" and keep other
functions disabled? Why not also enable e.g. "Undo", "Paste" etc.?
