For me the the resolution both of the body of an OO document, and of the
controls (such as the sheet
labels in Calc) depends on what display I am using when I start OpenOffice. I
use a MacBook 15", I
have an external 22" (56cm) 1680x1050 display. If I start OpenOffice with the
MacBook's built-in
display, 100% zoom looks fine, and the "decorations" like the sheet labels and
status bar are easily
readable.

This is on Mac OS 10.5.8, updated as of 11/11/2009.

When I start OpenOffice with only the external display (MacBook is closed, and
I use an external
keyboard), 100% zoom is unreadable (small), and the decorations are also
unreadable. I can zoom up
the body text, but I have no way to change the small labels.

I suspect that OO is mis-reading the screen resolution, and making an incorrect
adjustment for
displaying fonts.

The workaround is to open up the MacBook, disable the external display, restart
OpenOffice, put the
MacBook to sleep, and awaken it to use the external display. I don't see how to
disable and enable the
built-in display without sleep or shutdown. This is a very awkward workaround,
and the procedure
must be repeated if OpenOffice exits for any reason.

This is a different use case than the one described in
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?
id=98581 as it does not depend on changing the resolution of the current
screen. There may be a
similar root cause, but both scenarios should be tested.

thanks.
