2005 -------
The template was opened read-only so nothing could be stored to it. The bug
still remains if the template *is* read-only. The same problem was in OOo1.x,
but in this case another bug prevented the organizer from expand the styles at
all.
Fixing this second (and old) problem requires more effort that I don't see
judged (not to mention the risk...).
