Several years ago one of my late husband's colleagues moved into an old farm house - complete with a sugar bush and some old maple syrup making equipment in a nearby small town called Avon. A group of the guys decided to "go into the business" and began by building a new sugar shanty. It wasn't long before they got things going and produced a lot of syrup - in fact, they marketed it in special jugs with special labels to a local supermarket. School groups used to go there to be shown how it was done and sample the wares. They even sewed up a flag to be flown over the bush - it had ASS on it - Avon Syrup Society - and I still have and treasure that flag. Fran
