Thank you for the information, I was able to find kernel support for
USB sound devices, but what I was more interested in is ALSA support
for USB devices.

I have been thinking about trying my hand at driver writing.  I have
about 10 years working with user space C ANSI/POSIX (hobby &
professional).  I started playing with drivers for custom made
parallel port devices.  Working with ALSA USB will probably like
jumping into the lake from a cliff, but I have never been much for
starting small, I was hobbyist programmer for about 4 years before I
started with C and my first C project was an ambitious project too.
