Doesn't the C-Media 8338/8738 ALSA driver support digital output? I've got such a card, but haven't tried it with ALSA... these boards offer 24-bit perfect S/PDIF for a limited number of rates... 8338 officially only 44.1... 8738 can handle 44.1 and 48.
Wouldn't touch a YMF744 with a large pole. I have the NX from Hoontech that Dan Hollis talks about, and the normal quality resampling (as far as the Win9x drivers go) is a bad, bad joke. High quality mode is passable, but I suspect this is done in software. - Tom. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joshua Jacobs" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2001 3:50 PM Subject: [Alsa-devel] linux sound card w/ digital output > > Hi- > > I'm looking to get a sound card for my linux box which supports S/PDIF output > (Toslink preferred, but coax can work too).
