I have TerraTec EWX 24/96 too. I had the same problem with alsa-0.5 , with alsa-0.9 it works fine ( oss (i.e. mpg123) and native i.e. ardour ) use envy24control gtk mixer ( alsa-tools or utils ? ). It is a bit complicated than AC97-like, but give you a perfect control other the card. Oss-mixer does not work for ice1712. A bit more, SPDIF in( I have CD-RW DA output attached to it) does not work until you select external syncronisation in envy24control. bye Roman
