Anyway, I just wanted to write a quick thank-you note to the developers of ALSA, I'm still fairly new to Linux and by no means an audio professional, but I just switched from default OSS/Free sound drivers to ALSA, and I have to say it's made a world of difference in audio quality from my computer. I've got fairly good speakers hooked up and had become fairly acclimatised to ordinary sound quality, didn't even think there was anything "wrong." But ALSA made such a drastic difference, I'm now amazed by every sound that comes out of the computer and going through hundreds of songs I've listened to many times before, just to hear the "new and improved" versions. Thanks very much for making it possible, and even relatively easy for a new user such as myself to figure out and install. If you're interested, the reason I bothered to switch in the first place is that I was interested in trying some Hard Drive multitrack recorders under Linux, and Ardour, seemingly the most sophisticated, requires ALSA (as you likely already knew). Anyway, one small bit of serendipity, and the whole computer audio experience has been much improved. Thanks again, and good luck with ongoing development, Daniel Holt [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: ValueWeb: Dedicated Hosting for just $79/mo with 500 GB of bandwidth!
