snd-usb-midi doesn't yet support the UX16.

In theory, usb-midi does support it.

"modprobe usb-midi" should be enough to get it running. The driver will
print some message to /var/log/messages, please show the last lines of
this file.

If you send me the output of lsusb I'll be able to send you a patch for
ALSA rc3 to get your device working.
