To my mind, the ALC650 is a AC97 decoder and not a sound card. This decoder is normally supported by the alsa project, but the decoder have to be used witha sound card driver. In your case, perhaps have you used a wrong driver, just try the intel-8x0, because you have an intel chipset !

I suspect that that chip is newish but it might be similar to one of the existing ALS drivers.

Maybe one of the authors of the ALS 4000 will help you.
