Thanks for the tip, it is much appreciated. I didn't consider this driver as the ALC650 chip is seperate on the motherboard, the Alsa docs don't appear to cover it and google didn't return anything but links to the via driver at the time. I have installed the intel-8x0 driver and everything is showing up in /proc.
Just in case google is watching, the motherboard has the Intel 845PE with an onboard Realtek ALC650 :-) Cheers, Scott.
