Hi everybody,For the moment the only way to get surround 5.1(DTS, or whatever) on any cs46xx based soundcard is to use an external receiver using the SPDIF passthrow. However the SPDIF passthrow functionality is very unstable and get very easily out of sync, probably wont work ....
I have a great deal of problems to get 5.1 sound to work when I play DVD:s. I use alsa 0.9.0rc6 and mplayer 0.90pre9 as my DVD player. If I try "mplayer -channels 6 -dvd 1" the only thing I get is the front speakers and nothing else, no center, no LFE. I also tried "mplayer -channels 6 -dvd 1 -ao alsa9" but that resulted in this:
Surround 4.0, just using front and rear spekears output should work without any known HW issue. Then how to configure mplayer to use the outputs hw:0,0 and hw:0,1 dont know ...
Implementing functionality to have Center and LFE output working on the Herc. XP card someday, it's possible, but still TODO ...
