Hi,

I'm mostly a silent lurker in this ML.

I'm also running Suse 7.3, but with a Soundblaster 5.1

Yeah, alsa-driver has to be rebuilt, it has to match the version of the
kernel.

Oh, I even did not know that such pkgs exist, I always build them by myself

I'm running 2.4.20 since it's release, also with alsa-driver-0.5.12a.

I only recompile alsa-driver, when I build a new kernel, not the other pkgs.
Which program generates this msg ?

I have seen Cl. Ladischs reply, but I think the alsa maintainers should
release not only *release candidates*, but a *stable* version. 0.5.12a was the
last stable. If you want to use 0.9 on your box then chances are high, that you
have to recompile applications of Suse 7.3 that are linked against 0.5. And
that could be more or less of work :-/. Therefore I also stay with 0.5 as
long as possible.

So, if I may ask an official question to the maintainer team, when will a
*0.9 stable* be released ?The situation in the moment where you are only
offering a *deprecated stable* is annoying. Or will we have to wait until the 2.6
kernels are released, and alsa is no longer separate from the kernel ?
