Hmm, maybe there is just nothing that uses it. The plop sound really is a good
sign. Do you still hear nothing? Can you use the devices at least? Does xmms
work, did you try the alsa output plugin for xmms? What do the ADC and DAC
sliders in alsa mixer say? Are they unmuted and set to a level > 0? For me,
16 is a good setting for DAC at least. I never recorded anything with my
XFire yet, so I'm not sure about a good setting for ADC.

No those post install and preremove stuff saves and restores your mixer
settings. On my system, alsa is initialized and shut down on boot and
shutdown. The save and restore logic is placed there.

Uhm, what do you mean? I don't understand. Are you surprised I don't have
those lines? If so, that should be cleared now :-)

I'm really a little surprised that you don't hear anything. Are you really
really sure, your mixer channels are unmuted and not equal zero? Also, I'd
check the other output in case you haven't already done so.

I noticed in your previous mail that you passed additional options to the
snd-cs46xx module. Any idea what that does? As I said before I still have
that problem that I have to unload and reload the modules once before I can
use sound after boot. Maybe that little option does the trick.

Thanks,

Richard
