You do not tell us what the sound source is that you are playing, or are you recording it.
Your solution is a bit strange. If the apps were recorded at 44100, and you played it at 48000 then they would be to fast and about a whole tone too high. You seem to imply that if you play them at 48000 they sound OK however, which does not make sense. Perhaps more detail would enable people to give better advice.
