AC97 is not the hardware AFAIK but the codec. Use lspci to look for the card
type.

Hmm. does not sound good. Are you sure there is a sound card? Is it disabled
in bios?

Intel High def has enough problems without hearing that this is a "IHD
compliant chipset. Does not sound good.
