Thanks everyone.  So it sounds like

   - There are Git/Hg plugins for VS, but everyone uses the command
   line/powershell.
   - Switching to a Git/Hg is well worth the effort.

Chris - I remember that discussion ;)  it's been a while and I was hoping to
get feedback specifically around tooling - which I got, so thanks!
