I'm not a TFS advocate, but as someone who moved their company from VSS to SVN to TFS and Fogbugz to TFS, I don't think its the end of the world.
I have to admit to just keeping the old systems around for a year afterwards and just checking in trunk into TFS. The level of integration was nice and the only constant pain I had was around disconnected use/sync, shelving, and branch management which may be nicer these days. Yes I would choose git or some distributed SCM today because disconnected/shelving/branching, etc... and I was planning a move before I left Azaleos. I used less and less of the TFS workflow/reporting/sharepoint overtime as methodology moved to lean/kanban from iteration based Agile.
