Why don't you go ahead and try a preliminary version of what should
become 1.4.1, which is 1.4 with some windows packaging issues resolved.

This changes how we detect Java so that a *newer* installed version
won't force you to download another copy. It also has a signed driver
that should make Windows 8 happy, and has file associations added so you
can double-click on your flight log files to open the application.
Note that it does include firmware marked '1.4.1', but there hasn't been
any change in the code, and I haven't tested those firmware images at
all (they get built with the rest of the package, and backing them out
to 1.4 will take a bit more hackery). In other words, don't flash those
images to your hardware. Once we've gotten a bit more testing with the
1.4.1 Windows installation changes, we'll get an official package made.
