Chris,

That would work too. It just that when you are walking through the desert, stepping over squirrel holes, and keeping an eye out for rattle snakes a tenth of a mile seems like a long time between distance updates. If you are driving, the Garmin method would be fine.

Agree that it is really nice to have the phone walk me right to the rocket.

Why not switch from miles to feet once you are under 1/10th of a mile? That's what my Garmin does.

BTW: I used the AltosDroid software for the first time last week. The software itself met my expectations. I was a little surprised that it didn't scan for active units and that I had to pick a channel and know the call sign of the unit I wanted to monitor(maybe I just didn't see the right option though). I was disappointed that my tablet couldn't seem to get a GPS lock(not AltosDroid's fault) so I had to transfer the coordinates to my Garmin. I never saw the rocket after apogee. It landed about 1/2 mile away, but without the TM I wouldn't have had a clue where to start looking. With the GPS coordinates we drove right to it a couple minutes after it landed.

Yeah, I got started trying that a few months ago and didn't get it
finished. I've added a ticket to our bug system to encourage me to
    finish this up.
