Hi,
We currently have Amanda 2.4.1p1 running on a Solaris 8 box attached to a
single CY8050 AIT tape drive.
We recently received a new tape backup system with dual CY8050 50GB
AIT tape drives and a 15 tape stacker.
I plan on shutting down the amanda server and removing the old tape drive
and attaching the new system. I then would need to perform a "boot -r" so
the system would "reconfigure" and recognize the new hardware.
Do I then need to run "make tapetype" from /amanda/tape-src even though
the tapes are the same?
Since there will be two tape drives do I need to run ./tapetype CY8050 for
both device locations (/dev/rmt/?1 and /dev/rmt/?2) ?
I don't want my current tape cycle broken so I plan to keep amanda.conf as
is (unless the device location changes). I will just use one tape drive
for the daily tapes and will use the second tape drive to perform copies,
restores, monthly's or special requests. Where in the existing
amanda.conf do I identify this second tapedrive? Do I have two tapedev
entries? tapedev "/dev/rmt/0bn" and the second one?
I'll worry about the stacker and robot software interface with amanda
later but any tips on this is appreciated as well.
Thank you,
Melissa
