It's not so much that Amanda doesn't like "localhost" as that you, as the
administrator, won't. Amanda stores information about the backups based
on client name. If you ever move that machine to another configuration
(e.g. a "bigger" tape server), "localhost" is certainly not going to be
the right name, but the real host name will be.

You'll need to get this fixed. As it says, you probably just need to
run amcleanup.

Did you look at the steps in the FAQ? There are quite a few suggestions
about this specific problem there (it's very common). If that doesn't
help, please post back with what you tried and what the results were.
