I am having the same problem. Data timeouts on local partitions. I do a
'ps aux' and it shows several dump processes that are defunct. I've tried
dumping with and without using the holding disk. I've tried several
differnt configurations with no changes. It backs up a small partition just
fine, but the large partitions it times out every time. Any ideas would be
appreciated.

config:
Dual PPro 200MHz system
RedHat 7.0
Amanda 2.4.2p2
kernel 2.2.19-7.0.1SMP
128MB RAM
IDE disks
Adaptec 7880 embedded controller
Compaq TSL-10000 20/40GB DDS4 Autoloader
