Do you have a changer, also? And does it work for you?
Ok i will check that out. I have had this up and running for awhile. And for some reason along time ago I thought that it would restore just fine. But recently I had to restore something and found a bunch of things that was not working. (due to some other config changes I made) I need to remember to periodicly check to see if it can restore the files that it is backing up.

It did tell me about a debug file when I tried to restore the some files. But I can't find the file anywhere.

I am running amanda on a Sony tape changer.
I am using chg-zd-mtx to interface with the changer using MTX
When I run amrestore it fails to load the tape it needs.
I have to open another session and tell it to load the right tape.

So my question is (after looking at some of the code) does the MTX changer only changes the tapes
to the next tape or previous tape and not to the tape that it needs?

It sounds like you may have to set the option offline_before_unload=1. You may also need to make sure that the changer itself is not set to sequential mode. An easy way to test is to load a tape and write to it...then try to change it via the command line. If you have to run 'mt offline' then you need to set the option. I am also assuming you've amlabeled the tapes.

Also, post the relevant debug files.
