Chaskiel,
What is the version of your working amanda server?
Can you set the 'kencrypt' dumptype to no. It will help me to find the
problem if the backup succeed.

Chaskiel,
In theory, upgrading client and/or server first should work. In
practice, krb5 is not heavily tested, not to say it is not tested
at all, but it have not changed in many years.
Add:
debug_auth 9
in amanda.conf on the server and in /etc/amanda/amanda-client.conf
on the client.
Retry the backup.
Post the complete dumper-*.debug file from the server and the
complete amandad-*.debug and sendbackup-*.debug files from the client.

I have an existing 2.6.0p1/2.6.1p1 setup, and the servers have
to be moved and rebuilt. We use the kerberos
authentication/transport.
I am trying to use amanda 3.3.5 on a rebuilt server, and my
first amdump run failed. estimates and such ran fine, but none
of the dumpers succeeded. Should this work, or do the clients
have to be upgraded first? Will new clients work with the old
servers?

The sendbackup debug files on the client seem to be completely
normal.
Thanks.
